In NASCAR’s history, there have been many important NASCAR results that have come out due to variations made to the NASCAR rules and regulations. The Chase rules were first implemented, for instance, in the first season of the 2004 NASCAR Nextel Cup. The 2005 NASCAR rule book had a few changes in which the winner was given five extra points. In the 2007 NASCAR rule book, some additional variations were made by which the winner was awarded an extra five points. The 2007 NASCAR rule changes allowed the winner of the race to earn an additional ten points more than the next placer to make sure that the winner had the same number of points. There are also NASCAR rules and regulations for specific drivers and team owners. For example, the rules allow for substitute drivers to take over if the original drivers suffer from any kind of injury or exhaustion.

The car owners are awarded the same number of points as the drivers. Even if the car does not qualify further, the owners are still awarded points on the basis of their performance. The NASCAR rules for car setup are decided by owner points. Also these rules decide on the pole positions of the cars in the competition. In accordance to these rules, by the end of the twenty sixth races, the top ten race car drivers have to reset their scores. The teams are only differentiated by around five points each. The player in first position always has the highest points.

All the teams take part in the 10-team playoff finals for the championship. The Winston Cigarettes were taken over in sponsorship by the Nextel mobiles in the same year. As a result of this, the name of the series was altered.

The 2004 NASCAR Nextel Cup results were highly affected by these changes. In the April of 2004, a major controversy occurred during the Aaron’s 499. A racecar driver, Brian Vickers, crashed his car with only four laps left in the competition. Dale Earnhardt was in the position to take over the famous Jeff Gordon who was in the lead at the time. Due to the accident, Gordon managed to maintain his position in the competition. As a result of this, NASCAR introduced the green-white-checker flag to avoid similar controversies from occurring again.

The 2006 NASCAR results were more clear-cut. Some new cars including the Ford’s Fusion and the Chevrolet Monte Carlo were launched during this season. Various rookies and substitute race car drivers were allowed to race for the many popular race car drivers who had been injured or retired. Jimmie Johnson from Chevrolet was awarded the eventual trophy for the championship as one can see in the 2006 NASCAR Nextel cup results.
