Like all the good things in life, NASCAR is also accompanied by its share of something bad: NASCAR crashes. The NASCAR big wrecks affect the viewers almost as significantly as they affect the racers themselves. However, some fans actually enjoy watching the crashes almost as much as they enjoy the race itself. The crashes in the competition are almost inevitable as the racers have to drive at such break neck speeds, their very lives are in danger. How they still manage to compete in the race while their lives are at risk, is still a mystery many are unable to comprehend completely. One of the most important reasons for the many NASCAR crashes is the ineffective safety precautions taken by those responsible. Fortunately, the authorities have taken this factor into serious consideration in order to reduce the chances of any fatal injuries to drivers. In the last few years, there have been numerous drivers who have survived many severe NASCAR car crashes.
One of the most significant factors involved in racing competitions is to drive at high speeds. However high speed could result in serious trouble as one wrong move from the driver could take away his or her life. No matter how many precautions are taken by the organizers, it is never possible to completely eliminate the risk of NASCAR car wrecks. The worst NASCAR wrecks ever have resulted in deaths for many famous racers. For example, the legendary racer Dale Earnhart lost his life in one of the most unfortunate NASCAR wrecks of all times. The fans are not only interested in the race but they also have a lot of concern for the drivers participating in the race. The drivers after all put their lives at severe risk in order to entertain their fans. It was due to the pressure created by the fans that better safety measures came into effect for the drivers. The report from the detectives revealed that the fatality in the NASCAR crash resulted from a seat belt malfunction. The racer’s life could have been saved. Thankfully, now fewer deaths occur from NASCAR wrecks with the improvement in safety precautions taken by the authorities. The NASCAR wrecks that we see now do not usually result in anything life threatening.
It is interesting to note that one of the worst NASCAR crashes of all times did not result in the death for the driver. Although the driver still received some serious injuries. The driver being referred to in this situation is Geoff Bodine when he crashed in Daytona while in a truck racing competition. The accident of his truck no only resulted in many broken bones for him but also injured many fans. According to many, there was an even worse crash in NASCAR history than this one which involved Mike Harmon. Fortunately he did not get any serious injury even though his car parted into halves when the gate opened and the car hit the concrete wall.
